What do you feed your parrot? I have a double yellow headed amazon and just started giving him walnut as a treat. My dad, a zoologist, says the parrot would never have encountered walnut in th wild and shouldn’t have it. He does get a wide variety of foods, but I am curious to learn what you feed your parrot and what is their favorite food?

Your dad is right, but in the wild we’d never encounter things like bread, butter, and other things, but we still eat it, right?
Go ahead and feed it to your bird!

so I just got a green cheeked amazon and the owner said he was friendly to women only. I was just holding him and he suddenly bit me hard. Is this something he will continue to do or could it be cause he doesn’t know me yet and will he get used to me?

The best way to handle it is to ball your hand into a fist and say step up firmly but soft. if you are SCARED of her biting you it will bite and push you around. Be assertive. not aggresive assertive. which means dont give up and think at all times what i says goes my way or the highway be confident! balling your hand in a fist and placing it on your birds belly will keep you from getting bitten as hard. you’ll learn that when he bites your fist it doesnt hurt and you wont be so scared. remember his beak cant fit around your fist. its just a little birdy. please dont feed him junk food or grit gravel rocks or sand thanks wwjd! : )

If he’s acting lame (meaning he can’t use his legs) then he may have had a seizure. I experienced this with my budgie and you really need to take it to an avian vet. My vet prescribed my bird with anti-seizure medication (diazepam). It may be different for you because I have a parakeet not an amazon. I had to give her the meds every 12 hours for 2 weeks. The vet will tell you everything you need to know and send you home with a care sheet. By the way she’s doing just fine now. Her incident was around christmas last year. Hope everything works out for the better.
Other symptoms of seizures include:
convulsions
screaming
tongue hanging out
acting tired
unability to control bowels
unability to control muscle movements (in my birds case she couldn’t control her wings or hold them in their normal position close to her sides)

if u are talking about in the same cage then no because they may fight or bond with each other and not you but if u are talkin about on u togethr or on a play stand together then yes as long as they dont fight
